Savar conquers at first sight. In a quiet bay, there is an islet connected by a causeway to the rest of the town, where the pre-Romanesque church of St. Pilgrim. Near the town is the famous Strašna Peć cave, the first organized excursion destination in this area, visited in 1904 by the Austro-Hungarian Emperor Francis Joseph. Savar is also known for the extraction of stone that was used to build the Zadar Forum, palaces and churches in Rome and Venice, and the UN building in New York.
